There are 3 components involved with security:
- The originating user's computer/laptop.
- Sending of the email. Email is not an inherently secure system. This is the area of largest risk and is a general security risk, not SimpleTrials specific. Your team will need to decide whether the convenience is worth the risk. If your eTMF documents are already going through email (e.g. your site is emailing the documents to your team), then there is no additional risk of having them emailed directly to SimpleTrials.
- Storage in SimpleTrials. Once the email with attachment is received by SimpleTrials, it is stored securely. We have an extensive set of security related features and procedures for SimpleTrials.
NOTE: If your sites or vendors are not currently sending documents via email, and you are concerned about that additional risk, the other option is to provide SimpleTrials user accounts to the sites/vendors directly. That way, they can upload files to SimpleTrials directly with no emails involved.
